How to practice Yogasana
Yogasanas should be practiced regularly and daily. They must become a part of one’s routine life. The best results of yogasanas will manifest only after years of practicing yogasanas. Sometimes it happens that it takes years to be able to achieve proficiency in some asanas. But one must remember that there is no shortcut to success and one must practice hard and practice regularly.
Who should practice Yogasana
Yogasanas can be practiced by anyone, but it is advised that children below eight years of age should not be asked to do yogasanas. The amount of outdoor games that they indulge in is more than enough an exercise for their bodies. This is also important as children that small in age my cause their body more harm than good by practicing yogasanas. After the age of eight, children can start with the simple postures of yogasana and slowly move on to becoming proficient in the more difficult ones. Any one who is above 15 years of age and in normal health can practice yogasanas without hesitation. If a person is suffering from any ailment he should not do yogasana without proper checkup.
When to practice Yogasana
Yogasana should be practiced in a calm, relaxed atmosphere. It is recommended to practice Yogasana early in the morning before having breakfast and after emptying your bowels. The second best time to do Yoga is when the sun is setting. This is primarily for physiological reasons. In India, especially and in other tropical regions of the world, the heat saps body energy and early morning and late evenings are thus the best times for Yoga. But if one is not able to follow this rule, it will do well to remember that Yoga can be practiced throughout the day except in the first 2-3 hour after a meal.
