It’s a useful discussion, so, let’s not be shy about it. Below is a simple tip for colon cleansing to help Yoga practice.
Everybody knows that morning Yoga practice is the best in many respects – we will discuss the reasons in a separate post. Most obvious reasons are the following:
- mind is calmer in the morning and we don’t feel pressed by daily routine yet, or at least not as much
- body relaxed, not tired – we simply have energy for practice
- all digestion processes are by definition ended at least a few hours ago – and we know how much better is the practice when we feel empty in the stomach
- it’s a relatively quiet time (this is especially important for parents – who have little or no chance practice other time of the day)
- there are also “Yoga-specific” reasons…
- etc.
One of the important things to do though before the beginning of Yoga practice – is to clean intestine – it will help to feel even lighter, it will clean us from digested food (and this is important as at some point it starts to produce poisons – we have to have regular bowel movements – one of the important tips to keep healthy). These all will help with pranayama – breathing practice and then with morning asana practice too…
So, question is – how to clean the colon? – There is a very simple technique many don’t know. Here it is:
- When you wake up – warm a half glass, about 100ml, or so of water (try a bit more if half of the glass is not enough – experiment – find your own amount). It’s better to have water warmer than cooler.
- Slowly drink it.
- Take an article on Yoga – and read it (10-15 min)
. Why? – Well, whole process takes 5-15 min for most of the people, so, spend the time usefully – read something on Yoga for example – then when you start your Yoga practice with meditation – you will have something good in your mind for analytical meditation (reflection) if that is what you want. - In a few min after you had your warm water – you will know it’s time
. Voila! – You are ready to start your Yoga practice. - Don’t drink other liquids for this (it will start digestion process, etc. – that is not what we want)
Of course there are more complex cleansing procedures, specific Yoga Kriyas we will discuss in other posts. But the technique above is the simplest and most effective for daily use I know. Do you have other tips? – Please share in the comments.
And since we are on the topic: normal bowel movements should happen between 3 times a day to 3 times a week (with some exceptions of course). If your frequency is different – you either constipated or have a diarrhea (or even something more serious) – check with your doctor in these cases. Remember that many symptoms you may have may originate from some issues with intestine…. – For example headaches are often signaling that our bowel movements are too rare and poisons get into our body…
Here is another tip why morning Yoga practice is good: I woke up today at 3:00 AM. By now I did all the cleansing, had a shower, pranayama, meditation, asana practice, worked a bit, wrote this post – I feel energized and ready for the day. And my family only starting to wake up…
Share what you have to say on tips to make Yoga practice in the morning better.
All the best wishes!
